The Holmdel High School Dance Department serves students in grade 9-12 who are passionate and curious about dance. The mission of the Dance Department is to offer a comprehensive and accessible program for students of all experiences, backgrounds, and abilities, to participate in during their time in high school. The dance program currently offers four dance courses, Dance 1, Dance 2, Dance 3, and Adaptive Dance. Topics covered throughout these course are Body and Spatial Awareness, Anatomy for Dancers, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Choreography, Dance History, Dance Criticism, the Creative Process, Strength and Conditioning, Audition Skills, Careers in Dance, amongst others. Students in each class have multiple opportunities for choreographic exploration as soloists and in groups. Each course culminates in an end of the year concert featuring both teacher and student choreography. The program also works to provide opportunities for students to experience dance by attending field trip, workshops, and master classes. The Holmdel High School Dance Department aims to celebrate and share dance with all.
